Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
DuraFlex Fireplace Repair in Orlando: What to Know First
DuraFlex fireplace repair in Orlando typically runs between $225 and $1,400 depending on whether we’re replacing a refractory panel, servicing a gas valve, or relining a section of flue, and most jobs are completed in one visit. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider, not a factory warranty center, which means we diagnose first and quote a written price before any work starts. If you own a DuraFlex system and it’s acting up, call (850) 940-3442.
This page is for Orlando homeowners who have a DuraFlex liner, firebox, or fireplace component and want to know what’s actually wrong before spending money. Danny Cortes and our crew see DuraFlex systems in homes across College Park, Winter Park, Baldwin Park, and Dr. Phillips, so what follows comes from real service calls, not a brochure.
How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
DuraFlex builds two product families that show up regularly in Orlando homes: the DuraFlex aluminum liners used in gas and wood-burning chimneys, and the Pro line of heavier stainless steel. Each has its own failure pattern in this climate. Here’s what we actually find behind the fireplace.
- DuraFlex AL series kinking at the smoke shelf. The aluminum liner on older installations often bends where it transitions from the firebox into the flue, especially if the original installer pulled it too aggressively around the damper frame. Symptom: you see white residue or crusty deposits near the damper and smell more smoke inside the house than you used to. We repair by reseating or replacing the compromised section and checking the entire run for tight radius bends before securing. No amount of sweeping fixes a kinked liner.
- Pro series seam separation under humidity swings. Central Florida’s wet-dry cycle is hard on mechanical joints. The Pro single-wall expands and contracts through the seasons, and after enough cycles the seams can separate slightly, especially on long vertical runs in exterior chase installations. Symptoms are draft problems that get worse on windy days, plus a faint rattle. We fix these with DuraFlex’s own locking bands or matched-gauge stainless couplers, depending on what the liner can safely accept.
- Corrosion at the terminator cap from pool chemicals or salt air. Homes near Orlando’s lakefront communities have to deal with airborne chlorides faster than the manufacturer’s average expectations. The standard cap on older DuraFlex installs will show pinhole rust within eight to twelve years. We replace the cap and inspect the top three feet of liner, which is where most of the corrosion concentrates. If the liner is still sound, a new cap is the right fix, not the whole reline.
- Gas fireplace log set sitting incorrectly inside a DuraFlex-vented firebox. Most DuraFlex liners are venting an existing gas fireplace or log set. Over time the log set shifts or the ember bed clogs the primary air ports, leading to sooting, delayed ignition, and that rotten egg smell that scares people. We clean and realign the log set to the manufacturer’s layout, clear the ports, and verify draft through the liner before we call it done. Sooting on the glass is not normal and we don’t treat it like it is.
- Freeze-thaw popping around the top plate during Orlando’s occasional cold snaps. We only get a few freezing nights a year, but that’s enough. The top plate seal on exterior chase covers can crack after repeated expansion, letting water run down the outside of the liner. Owners notice staining on the ceiling near the fireplace before they see water. We remove, clean, and reseal the top plate with high-temperature silicone rated for this application, then check the chase interior for moisture damage.

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Repair Process
- 1
You call, a live person answers. No menu. You describe what the fireplace is doing. We ask the questions that help us bring the right parts on the first trip.
- 2
We inspect before we quote. Danny or one of our senior techs runs a camera through the flue, checks the firebox, and tests the gas valve if it’s a gas system. You see the photos. Nothing is recommended without visual evidence.
- 3
Parts decision made in front of you. If a DuraFlex component needs replacing, we tell you whether OEM is required for the repair to hold or whether a quality aftermarket part from HeatShield or Gelco will perform as well. We never default to the expensive option and never push a patch.
- 4
Written price before any work starts. The number we hand you is the number you pay. If the repair discloses more damage, we stop and show you first.
- 5
The repair and the test. We complete the work, then run the system through draft testing, flame pattern check, and carbon monoxide verification where gas is involved.
- 6
Cleanup photo and the Done Right Promise. Floors are covered from the first step in. Before we leave, we photograph the work area. Every DuraFlex repair is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it isn’t right, we make it right.

AfterWhat DuraFlex Fireplace Repair Costs in Orlando
Most standard DuraFlex fireplace repairs in Orlando fall between $225 and $1,400 on the final invoice. The spread exists because some problems are point repairs and some require section replacement.
| Repair Type | Typical Orlando Range |
|---|---|
| Gas valve or pilot assembly service | $225 – $475 |
| Log set realignment and port cleaning | $180 – $320 |
| Damper repair or replacement | $275 – $600 |
| Liner section repair (short run) | $650 – $1,100 |
| Full liner replacement (longer runs) | $1,900 – $3,800 |
What moves the price: roof access difficulty, whether the liner is accessible from the firebox or requires staging, gas versus wood, and the age of the surrounding masonry. Estimates are free. Call (850) 940-3442 and we’ll give you a written number before anything starts.
Why Orlando Homeowners Call Kindling Chimney Orlando for DuraFlex Work
We handle DuraFlex systems more carefully than most contractors because we actually know what that brand does well and where it struggles. The technician who walks in your door is background-checked, uniformed, and trained on this specific product line. Shoe covers and drop cloths go down before we open the fireplace. Every repair is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means we stand behind the work for a full year.
When a DuraFlex repair overlaps with a liner issue that needs a different material or a HeatShield coating, we already know the compatible options because we work with both brands. The C.A.R.E. values govern every visit: we cover floors, ask before moving anything, respect your home, and leave with a cleanup photo. Danny Cortes still does the inspection himself on jobs that need a second set of eyes, because a flue is not a place to guess.
FAQs
We are an independent DuraFlex service provider, not an authorized factory warranty center. If your DuraFlex product is under manufacturer warranty, we can help you document what we find and guide you through the claim process with photos and a written diagnosis. The repair itself is backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise regardless of warranty status.
Most DuraFlex repair calls in Orlando are scheduled within three to five business days. If you have a live gas smell or visible water damage near the fireplace, call (850) 940-3442 immediately and we’ll guide you through shutting the system down safely while we get someone out.
It depends on what failed. For mating components like locking bands, terminator caps, and connector sections, we use DuraFlex’s OEM parts because the tolerances matter. For supporting materials like sealants, insulation wraps, and certain firebox panels, we use professional-grade options from HeatShield and Gelco when they perform as well or better for less money. You always know what we’re installing and why before we do it.
Repair is still the right call for most DuraFlex systems under twenty years old, especially if the failure is isolated to a valve, damper, log set, or a short liner section. Replacement only makes sense when the liner is extensively corroded or the firebox itself is structurally failing. Danny will always show you the camera footage that supports whichever direction the repair should go. Knowing exactly what’s in your flue before the first fire of the season is the whole foundation of the advice we give.
For gas systems, delayed ignition can become sudden and harsh, which puts unnecessary stress on every seal and joint. For wood systems, a damaged liner allows heat and combustion gases to reach combustible framing at a rate the chimney was never designed for. Neither condition announces itself. The safe move is a camera inspection so you know whether the system can wait or needs attention now. Call (850) 940-3442 and we’ll help you figure out exactly what you’re working with.
